Rocky Boy's
Amber Kuehn
Reporter
I am a junior from Columbus, Mont., in the print journalism program at the University of Montana. I write for the campus newspaper, the Montana Kaimin, as a sports reporter. I signed up for the Native News Honors Project to further develop my writing and reporting skills in an area other than sports, while at the same time learning about a culture and lifestyle different from my own. I have never visited a reservation, so the experience will be a new one for me. I’m looking forward to writing about life on a reservation and I know that it will be an eye-opening experience I will remember for the rest of my life. My name is Amber Kuehn, and I will be reporting on Montana’s Rocky Boy’s Reservation.

I am a fifth-generation Montanan who grew up in Missoula. I have always celebrated my strong ties to Montana. My family migrated here before it was even a state, and settled as ranchers and farmers in small towns scattered all around Montana.
As a senior in the journalism school, I am interested in the Native News Honors Project because it will give me the chance to document people of other cultures who live so close to my home. I am astounded by the lack of governmental attention to reservations in Montana. I want to document the effects this has on Indian people’s lives. I am excited to experience and learn about a different culture. My name is Ashley McKee, and I will be photographing on Montana’s Rocky Boy’s Reservation.
