I am a junior who has studied both art and photojournalism for five years. My family is from the Crow Reservation and I spent most of my childhood on our family ranch near Lodge Grass, Mont. My grandmother taught me much about the history and customs of the Crow Tribe. This upbringing has given me both a deep respect for and an interest in American Indian culture.

My great-grandmother Helen Pease Wolf wrote a book on the history of our family on the reservation, called "Reaching Both Ways."

I interned at the Journal Star in Lincoln, Neb., in the summer of 2006, and I attended the American Indian Journalism Institute at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. I work for www.reznetnews.org, an online student newspaper, and I am a member of the Native American Journalists Association.

My name is Devin Wagner, and I will be photographing on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation for the Native News Honors Project.

Before coming to the University of Montana for graduate school as a print major in journalism, I received a bachelor's degree in dance from Fordham University in New York in 2002 and danced and choreographed for the North Carolina Dance Theatre in Charlotte. I also completed an internship with The Associated Press in Sioux Falls, S.D., after attending the Freedom Forum's American Indian Journalism Institute at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Spending time in different parts of the country has exposed me to many lifestyles and issues. Now I am looking forward to learning more about the culture and concerns of the Cheyenne people who live in southeastern Montana, an area of the state that I call home. I am a member of the Crow Tribe, and I claim both Billings and Crow Agency as my hometowns. I know there are many untold stories in Indian Country and I am excited about being a part of this year's Native News Honors Project.

My name is Mary Hudetz, and I will be reporting from the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.
